2024 REGISTRATION
IS NOW OPEN!!
ABOUT OUR PROGRAM
Our summer program is the highlight of the Yakima Elks Junior Club. Children ages 5 - 17 enjoy 6 Fridays of golf in June & July. The golf course and the driving range is closed from 8 AM - 12 PM during the program and allows the junior golfers to enjoy access to the entire course. Lunch is served following play and the Junior Club hosts an end of the year banquet. Over the years thousands of children and grandchildren of Yakima Elks #318 members have benefited from this amazing experience.

Two scholarships for college or trade school, each for $3,500, are available for 2024 high school (or the equivalent) graduates who have at least two years of past direct participation or volunteering in the Yakima Elks Summer Golf Program. It is planned that one scholarship will go to a qualified boy and the other to a qualified girl.
Scholarship application forms may be downloaded here or obtained from the Yakima Elks Pro Shop. The application period opens on January 1, 2024, and closes on March 29, 2024.
The threefold aims of this scholarship are to strengthen the Yakima Elks Summer Golf Program; to provide financial assistance to promising students who have been introduced to the life-lessons taught by the game of golf, such as personal honesty, adherence to rules, and respect for others; and for the continued remembrance of a respected golfer, Kurt Schlect.
Members of the independent committee overseeing the “ Kurt Schlect Memorial Scholarship” are: Larry Fitzgerald (chairman), Cathy Blore, Christian Schlect, Jeff Stevens, Fred Schlect, and Helen Wendt. The financial affairs of this scholarship are handled by the Yakima Valley Community Foundation.
Tax-deductible charitable donations in support of the “Kurt Schlect Memorial Scholarship” may be made by check payable to “YVCF” and sent to Christian Schlect, Secretary/Treasurer at 507 N 64th AVE, Yakima, WA or by visiting the website of the Yakima Valley Community Foundation (www.yakimavalleycf.org) and using your bank card under its “giving” tab.
